Nursery paint and soft furnishings

The brief

First-time parents wanted the nursery decorated and dressed before the due date, with low-odour paint and proper blackout at the window.

How it was done

• Used a low-VOC, wipeable matt suitable for a child's room.
• Painted the ceiling in a barely-tinted shade of the wall colour to soften the transition.
• Measured, made and hung blackout-lined pinch pleat curtains in a co-ordinating cotton.
• Added a matching bench cushion for the window seat.
