The brief
A north-facing living room that felt cold in every white the owners tried. They wanted colour advice as much as painting.
How it was done
- Sampled three sages on lining paper and checked them at morning, afternoon and lamplight.
- Caulked every gap between skirting, architrave and wall before a brush touched the walls.
- Cut in by hand throughout, no tape lines on the ceiling edge.
- Finished the woodwork in a low-sheen eggshell so it reads soft against the walls.
The finish
A room that stays warm on a grey Norfolk afternoon, with crisp edges and no roller marks in the low light.
